Meet Elizabeth

My name is Elizabeth Derrick and I am a board-certified music therapist and a certified music educator located in the Columbia, SC area. I completed an undergraduate degree in Music Education at Presbyterian College (SC) in 2014 and then went on to complete a master’s degree in Music Therapy at Appalachian State University (NC) in 2019. I have worked as a board-certified music therapist for over 4 years and have taught music privately and within schools for over 8 years.

My areas of musical expertise include the voice, ukulele, harp, guitar, basic to moderate piano, and the flute. When teaching music, I employ a passionate level of dedication and enthusiasm as I share musical knowledge with students. As a clinical music therapist, I seek to walk alongside clients while offering personalized therapeutic support to encourage each individual in their journey toward creative expression and wellness.

My Services

I provide in-person or telehealth private and group music therapy sessions, private music lessons, instrumental classes, and community music services.

As a music therapist, I visit skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, schools, and patient’s homes to work with clients who have dementia, patients receiving hospice and palliative care, individuals with mental, emotional, and/or behavioral needs, children and adults with special needs, individuals with speech disorders, and individuals with physical limitations.

If I travel to clients to provide services, mileage costs will be calculated and added to the service price.

Please contact me for the price of longer services, groups, events and classes.
